Compositing Trainee on Skydance Animation's feature for Netflix: helped with the DiMatte automation by adding paths to an existing tool, and built a Nuke tool to remove assets from Cryptomattes without opening Houdini.

What was my role?
As a Compositing Trainee at Skydance Animation Madrid I worked on Swapped, the studio's animated feature for Netflix, focusing on the technical side of the comp department.
What I worked on
- DiMatte automation — helped with the automation of DiMattes by adding paths to a tool the team already had in place.
- Cryptomatte asset removal from Nuke — built a Nuke tool that sends paths to an existing pipeline tool so assets can be removed from the Cryptomattes, without having to open Houdini or edit the file where those paths were listed.
What I learned
Both tasks meant building on top of tools that already existed rather than reinventing them: small, focused additions that let a comp artist make a routine fix without leaving Nuke. That was the biggest lesson of this production.
